We need representatives in Washington who will fight uncompromisingly and consistently to restore traditional values, limited government, free markets and a strong national defense.
How I can help our country
Dear Friend,
For 25 years I have worked in public life.
Anyone who knows my story knows that as a young woman I was on welfare – and after a Christian conversion, I changed my life.
I completed college and started a business.
After the 1992 Los Angeles riots, I began to work in public policy.
I worked on welfare reform from 1994-1996 and then founded my current organization CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, a policy think- tank that promotes market-based solutions to fight poverty.
CURE is based in Washington DC yet I still reside in Southern California.
Over the years I have been asked often to run for public office, but never agreed to because I thought that I could be most effective on the outside.
But today things have changed.
The threat to our country from those who now control our government is extraordinary. They are bringing to our entire nation the welfare state that has destroyed our low- income communities.
Our nation is deeply divided and we are at a crossroads. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “A nation divided against itself cannot stand.” We must decide who we are. Are we going to be a free nation under God or a social welfare state?
So in March, when the Los Angeles County Republican Party asked me to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 37th California Congressional district, I began to do a lot of soul searching.
With the urging of a small circle of trusted friends, I agreed to run.
I will work tirelessly to restore a great, prosperous, and free America that provides opportunity for every citizen of every background and economic status; a nation where we understand again that the role of government is to protect individual interests and pursuits, not to exploit or plunder them and a nation of free people that is served by its government not controlled by it.
We need representatives in Washington who will fight uncompromisingly and consistently to restore traditional values, limited government, free markets and a strong national defense.
We are at a critical point where we must begin to turn things around. I am compelled to do something. I must advance in this direction.
This is why I am running and I need your help.
If you are in the 37th Congressional District I am asking for your vote on November 2. If you do not live in the district, you are not able to vote for me, but in the Congress, I will vote for you because I will vote for freedom.
I promise you that I will consistently vote for freedom so help me God.
Sincerely,
Star Parker
Candidate, 37th Congressional District
