Parker Raises Twice that of her Incumbent Opponent, Laura Richardson

Star Parker raises over $1.1 Million in CA-37 race

Star Parker, candidate for Congress in California’s 37th District, holds a clear fundraising advantage over Democrat incumbent Rep. Laura Richardson. Parker’s third quarter financial filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) includes all campaign fundraising through September 30th.

Star’s campaign has raised a substantial total of $1,173,106 with $854,979 raised during the third quarter alone.  As of September 30th, Star’s campaign reported $243,460 cash on hand. By comparison, Richardson’s campaign has raised only $528,540 to date, leaving only $160,748 raised in the third quarter with $122,237 cash on hand.

A total of 98 percent of contributions to the Star Parker campaign has come from individual donors and only 2 percent from Political Action Committees (PACs).  By contrast, 84 percent of Richardson’s funds come through PACs with only 16 percent coming from individual donors.

Star Parker is challenging Democrat Rep. Laura Richardson to represent California’s 37th Congressional District, which encompasses Long Beach, Signal Hill, Carson, Compton, and parts of Los Angeles.

If elected, Star would become the first African-American female Republican elected to the United States House of Representatives.  In addition, Star will be the first African-American Republican to unseat a sitting member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).
